Jupiter may have just saved Earth from a devastating impact event

Something just went down on Jupiter. Monday morning, at 11:35:30 UT, amateur astronomers glimpsed a brief but blazing flash of light in the upper reaches of the planet's cloudy atmosphere. If past observations are any indication, Jupiter may have just sustained a major impact event. If that's the case, the gas giant may have just saved Earth from a devastating cosmic collision.

The first report of the "impact flash" is believed to have come from amateur astronomer Dan Petersen, who described his observation in a post to CloudyNights.com:

This morning (9/10/2012) at 11:35:30 UT, I observed a bright white two second long explosion just inside Jupiter's eastern limb, located at about Longitude 1 = 335, and Latitude = + 12 degrees north, inside the southern edge of the NEB [aka the planet's North Equatorial Belt]. This flash appeared to be about 100 miles in diameter. I used my Meade 12 LX200 GPS telescope and a binoviewer working at 400X for the observation, seeing was very good at the time.

Amateur astronomer George Hall was actually filming Jupiter when the flash occurred. On Hall's website, he describes happening upon Peterson's forum post, and deciding to go back and examine the videos he had collected early yesterday morning. The image featured up top (and again, below, without text), is a screenshot from the footage that he captured.

"We'll have to wait and see if a dark spot develops inside the southern regions of the NEB over the next day or two," writes Peterson in his forum post. These spots, according to Cosmic Log's Alan Boyle, would be "a sure sign" that an asteroid or comet had been drawn to the planet by its strong gravitational tug. But here's something I was surprised by: according to Boyle, Jupiter may have just saved Earth — or some other planet — from its own impact event. This is the third time since 2009 amateur astronomers have witnessed an impact flash on Jupiter. The massive gas giant, which exerts considerable gravitational pull, is something of a cosmic whipping boy in our solar system. Writes Boyle:

Jupiter impacts are of great interest to astronomers, amateur and professional, because they're part of the orbital billiards game that has shaped our solar system. In some cases, the cosmic interloper is destroyed before it has any visible effect on Jupiter's cloud tops. In weightier cases, the object breaks up and leaves black marks on the planet's atmosphere.The case of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 in 1994 is the most notable in recent memory.

Beyond the planetary science, there's the "phew" factor: Astronomers suspect that giant Jupiter's gravitational pull serves as a cosmic shield, sweeping up incoming objects that would have a deadlier effect if they were to slam into our planet. Some scientists say that without Jupiter, life on Earth wouldn't have had much of a chance.

Pretty wild, right? According to Boyle, we probably wont know how big the impact object was until astronomers have had a closer look at any aftermath visible in Jupiter's clouds; but for now, let's be glad this flash happened on Jupiter, and not here on Earth.

Witnesses describe scene of terror at Norway camp

SUNDVOLLEN, Norway (AP) — The man in the police uniform shouted for the campers to come closer. When they did, he killed them.
The gunman who killed at least 80 people at an island youth camp northwest of Oslo used his disguise to lure in his victims, then shot them twice to make sure they were dead, survivors said in the village of Sundvollen, where they were taken after the massacre.
"I saw many dead people," said 15-year old Elise, whose father, Vidar Myhre, didn't want her to disclose her last name. She just feet away from the gunman when he opened fire in the camp on Utoya island.
Elise said she had just come out from an information meeting in a nearby building when she heard gunshots. She saw a police officer and thought she was safe, but then he started shooting.
"He first shot people on the island. Afterward he started shooting people in the water," she said.
Elise said she hid behind the same rock that the killer was standing on. "I could hear his breathing from the top of the rock," she said.
In panic, the girl phoned her parents, whispering to them what was going on.
"They told me not to panic and that everything would be OK." Her parents also told her to get rid of a brightly colored jacket she was wearing to not draw attention to herself.
She said it was impossible to say how many minutes passed while she was waiting for him to stop.
Survivors described a scene of sheer terror at the camp, which is organized by the youth wing of Norway's ruling Labor party. Hundreds of young people were eagerly awaiting a speech the prime minister was to give there Saturday.
Police said the man arrested in the shooting is Norwegian and had set off a bomb that killed seven people outside the prime minister's headquarters in Oslo, about 20 miles (35 kilometers) from the camp.
Several of the survivors seemed calm as anxious parents picked them up at a Sundvollen hotel, but the stories they told were of utter terror.
Dana Berzingi said the fake police officer ordered people to come closer, then pulled weapons and ammunition from a bag and started shooting.
Several victims "had pretended as if they were dead to survive," the 21-year-old said. But after shooting the victims with one gun, the gunman shot them again in the head with a shotgun, he said.
"I lost several friends," said Berzingi, whose pants were stained with blood. He said he used the cell phone of one of his fallen friends to call police.
Emilie Bersaas, identified by Sky News television as one of the youths on the island, said she ran inside a school building and hid under a bed when the shooting started.
"At one point the shooting was very, very close (to) the building, I think actually it actually hit the building one time, and the people in the next room screamed very loud," she said.
"I laid under the bed for two hours and then the police smashed a window and came in," Bersaas said. "It seems kind of unreal, especially in Norway. This is not something that could happen here."
Another camper, Niclas Tokerud, stayed in touch with his sister through the attack through text messages.
"He sent me a text saying 'there's been gunshots. I am scared (expletive). But I am hiding and safe. I love you,'" said Nadia Tokerud, a 25-year-old graphic designer in Hokksund, Norway.
As he boarded a boat from the island after the danger had passed he sent one more text: "I'm safe."

THE NARROW GATE

I HAD A DREAM, I DON'T KNOW KUNG SA INYO BAD ITO OR GOOD?

"THE NARROW GATE" IN MATTHEW 7:13-14 (scary?) slight lang naman! So this is it!

*First, meron daw isang malaking gate na pwedeng humiling kung sino yung like mong makita na kaluluwa (ang weird pero humiling daw ako). Then ako hiniling ko yung tita ko, hiniling ko "SI IYA CAROL PO ANG GUSTO KONG MAKITA" then pinakita sa amin yung tita ko nagniningning siya, tapos tumabi sa amin at umiiyak siya dahil ang sinabi niya "PAG PRAY NIYO AKO, NAHIHIRAPAN NA AKO" then I asked her "WHY? ANONG NANGYARI?",sumagot siya "KAYO ANG PINAG PRA-PRAY KO, MAKAKARANAS DAW KASI KAYO NG TRIBULATION", we embraced her and cry cry na kami, then sabi namin "MAG PRAPRAY KAMI" then biglang the end. (bigla kasing nawala hehe pero napapaisip ako dito ah! Tribulation daw!)



*Second, yung NARROW GATE. Lahat daw tayo ay kaluluwa na lang, then I saw many people yung iba umiiyak, yung iba nakangiti lang, ung iba hindi alam ang gagawin. May nakita akong "DALAWANG GATE" Wide gate and the Small gate na hindi masyadong napapansin dahil sa wide gate. Meron isang tao na nag didikta kung saan dapat pumasok, ang tinuturo niya ay ang "WIDE GATE". Maraming taong pumapasok doon, yung iba ay nakangiti pa, maganda kasi yung wide gate maliwanag at yung tao formal ang suot. Mukhang kagalang-galang. Pero ako hindi ako pumasok sa wide gate, dahil nakita ko yung small gate konti lang pumapasok doon, at doon ako pumasok. Pag kapasok ko sa small gate, napakanta ako ng AMAZING GRACE.

Napasigaw din akong, "HUWAG KAYONG PUMASOK DYAN, HUWAG KAYONG MAKINIG SA KANYA" nang marinig yun nung taong nagdidikta, lumapit sa akin ng konti at tinitigan ako, pero ako nakatingin din sakanya habang kumakanta ng AMAZING GRACE, at yung taong iyon galit na galit sa amin.

JESUS RULE!

WHERE IS GOD'S POWER? some people wonder. I'll tell you. Go outside, into your yard, into a sports field, or onto a beach as a storm is approaching. Feel that wind blowing against your face? Thats God's power. When God show His face in the wind through a storm, there is nothing man can do except batten down his hatches and sit tight and wait out the storm.


Have you ever gone to a rocky beach and seen the waves pounding the jagged shore? Thats God's power. Ever seen a man surf a large wave? His skill may be impressive, but just think of the strength of that wave, thats God's power. Have you ever watched a magnificent, sunburst after a storm, as the sun shows its glory through the dark clouds? Thats God's power once again.


Imagine for a moment what would happen if God removed the manifestations of His power. Imagine if God removed, just for a moment, the AIR, the SUN, the WATER, the LAND and EVERYTHING that man depends on for life. There would be no question about who was in control.

CATCH THEM DOING SOMETHING NICE

IT'S EASY TO CRITICIZE PEOPLE WHO YOU THINK ARE SLOW WITTED, STRANGE, OR JUST VERY DIFFERENT THAN YOU. Then, because critical thoughts give birth to critical words, you blurt out something harsh or unkind. Even if you liked the person okay before, your words lead you to more critical thoughts, until you eventually dislike them.

Once in a while you wonder, "HEY, WHY IS IT THAT I DON'T LIKE THAT PERSON? THEY'RE NOT THAT BAD!" But it's tough to break the cycle once you've started it.

Do you want to know how to start thinking well of that person again?

First of all, remember that this person is one of MY children, and I love them. I see the secret tears they cry, their loneliness, and their desire to be accepted.

Then, try keeping a log of good things that you think or see about that person. Whenever you catch them doing something good, something admirable or kind, write it down in your logbook. You might want to expand the log and use it for more than one person.

Looking for the good and taking note of it will help you to get along with those "DIFFICULT" people a whole lot more easily.

Lock it up!.. And throw away the key!

People sometimes do unkind things, and that can really hurt. But I can wipe away the pain that you feel. I can take your sadness, bitterness, and anger, and all bad feelings away. I can lock them up in a closet and help throw away the key.



You may think that's not fair. Here someone did something bad to you, and now you're just supposed to forget it? Well, I know you can't exactly forget it, but you can lock it up where it won't spill over into your heart and your mind, making you so miserable.



I want to make it all better; I want to lock it up. But you'll have to be the one to throw away the key. You'll have to be the one to decide that you want to move on and that you want to get happy again. You'll have to trust Me to work in the lives of whoever blew it, and teach them what they need to know. Can you do that? Okay, then, let's move on. Let's go forward!

MISSING YOU IYA CAROL T.T

Last night my Achie Ann texted me, she said: "namimiss ko si iya", I replied: "wag ka nga naiiyak ako eh na aalala ko nanaman siya" we both miss Iya Carol. Iya means Tita hehe :)

Kanina pag gising ko pumasok sa mind ko si Iya Carol, na alala ko yung year 2008 nasa hospital ako siya nag alaga sakin, asaran pa kami dahil after ko ma admit siya naman sumunod. hehe :) Hindi ko napigilan sarili ko kanina, habang naliligo ako bigla na lang ako naiyak dahil na aalala ko yung nasa kabaong na siya, that was my first time na makakita na isa sa mga close kong relatives nasa loob na ng kabaong iyak ako ng iyak kanina, kinausap ko ang Lord sabi ko; "Lord I really missed her so much", then I cried again.

Na mimiss ko lang si Iya ng super ass inn hehehe :) promise haha :p pero may na alala ako na gustong mangyari ni Iya before siya mawala sa mundo, maibahagi niya yung Word of GOD, and she did it. Pero hindi lang nakinig at naniwala sakanya lubos siyang nasaktan at lagi niyang sinasabi sa tuwing nagkikita kami before nung buhay pa siya malamang haha :p "HINDI KO NA KAYA PAGOD NA KO". Na alala ko ang lahat yan kanina lang, then I realized natupad na yung gusto ng Iya ko.

Ang tanging hiling niya sa DIOS makakilala ang kanyang mga anak at asawa kay LORD. Alam niyo guys, God answered her prayer. Umaatend na sa church yung Uncle Toto ko, insan Harley and Katrin, and meron na din pong Bible study sakanila sila pa ang nag request nun. Wow! Grabeh, we just have to trust and believe in Him.

Sabi nga sa verse Ps.37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Yan ang ginawa ng Tita ko, hindi siya tumigil sa pag pr-PRAY. I know that my aunty carol is happy super happy syempre kapiling na niya si LORD eh.

LET'S PLAY A LITTLE CHESS

Let’s play a little chess. You’re down to your last piece. Last one
standing is the king. You are trapped in a corner and have nowhere
else to go. Make one move and you’re dead. Checkmate! Next thing
left to do is to give up and let your opponent topple your king. Next
thing you know, it’s game over.
Good thing that although this applies in a chess match, it’s
never the case in our life with Christ. The big difference is this:---Grace.

While there’d be times when our wrong moves can cause us
to be caught in seemingly “no-way-out” situations, I can boldly say
that with Christ, there’s no such thing as game over.
For when all the odds are against us—when even a step forward
or backward, or even sideward can spell the end—remember that
there is one more option left: to look up! There you’d find God
ready and willing to hand you His grace.
So if there’d be times when you feel like your king is trapped
and about to be downed by a checkmate,
don’t choose to concede. Look to the
King of kings. You just got found.
You’ve got grace. How would you
like to exchange your game over
for a start over?
Are you lost, in the middle of nowhere in your life, and can’t seem to
find your way to back to the track that will lead you to God? You feel
sorry for a sin but can’t seem to overcome it. As a result your heart
has gotten stone-cold. You lost the fire.
Or are you in the middle of a big mess because you’ve made
wrong choices and are now struggling to pick yourself up? Guilt
has struck. Consequences left and right hit hard and knocked you
down. There seems to be no way out.
Or are you in the middle of a catastrophe? Your grades flunked
because you partied instead of studied. Or you just broke up with
your boyfriend or girlfriend and it’s your fault. Your life has just
reached rock-bottom.
The end seems near for you.
Don’t give up just yet. Hold on for just a moment. Just as God
said to Paul, so is He telling you right now: His grace is all you need.
His grace is enough, it is sufficient.

No sin, no failure, no mistake is ever too big to crowd out the
grace of God. “For there is nothing we can do to make God love us
less.” No problem is ever too big for God to fix. And nothing is ever
too difficult for Him.
God is not giving up on you. So don’t give up on Him. Through
God’s grace, a clean slate is up for grabs. A fresh start is yours for the
taking. Get up and get moving. Begin again now.
The second chance begins when you
invite Him to take the driver’s seat
again. The first step to recovery is
to let Him have the steering wheel.
It’s time to get back on track.

Prayer:
Lord, today I realized that my stubbornness has led me to
losing my way. I was careless and I thought less. My wrong
choices resulted in a pile of bad consequences. That’s why
today, Lord, I receive Your grace. I long for a clean slate
and a new beginning. I am turning over my life once again
to You and humbly surrender.Jesus, here I am, in all
humility confessing once again that You are the Lord of my
life and of everything I have. From this day onward, it will
not be my will, but Yours be done in my life.

my soon to be Better Half

I once put down my pen to end the pain,
of yesterday's tragedy I nearly got insane.
But here i am again doing a blot on my paper,
to write a poem for my soon to be forever.:D

How I always pray for you only God knows,
to take care of you wherever you will go,
to guide you in every decision that you will make,
and to prepare you in every aspect, whatever it takes.

I always think of you in every minute that I have,
how do you look like? Or how many children we'll have?
I also think on how happy will I be with you?
Or how will you call my name and say "I love you."

I learned how to reserve a space for you,
here in my heart there's no more room for # 2.
It makes me happy just to think of you,
for I am very sure that you are thinking of me too.

It was such a nice feeling knowing that you're doing the same,
so I try to get more serious and stop playing games,
I am getting excited when the day comes that God meets our ways,
I will do my best to be ready, come what may.

So I hope that while you are reading this you'll know how much I loved thee,
for you are the only person that I wanted to be always beside me,
to my Better Half, my God's Will, my Answered Prayer
I will always love you forever and ever. :D

TURNING YOURSELF IN

When we consider love on a human level, we may fear others may not love us if they knew the person we really are deep inside. That is bondage, we can neither feel completely loved nor freely love others. Once we experience Jesus' love, however, we know what it is like to live in freedom. Jesus knows everything about us, the good and the bad, yet He loves us entirely. We are free to be honest with Him about who we are and who we are not. His love for us will not change.

There are many reasons God saves you, to bring glory to Himself, to appease his justice, to demonstrate his sovereignty. But one of the sweetest reasons God saved you is because He is fond of you. He likes having you around. He thinks you are the best thing to come down the pike in quite a while...

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk He'll listen, He can live anywhere in the universe and He chose your HEART.
