ON GUARD

ON GUARD
“above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life”
Prov.4:23

The Bible describes the heart as the place where decisions are made. We may think it is our mind that makes the decisions, but the values we hold in our heart determine our choices. The world encourages us to develop our minds, the center of our intellect. Some people train their brains to do amazing things. They may memorize volumes and grasp profound concepts, but sadly, people often neglect their hearts. Some people have high IQs but do not have good hearts.

According to the Bible, the heart includes emotions and will. Your heart represents who you really are. Some of the world’s smartest people have destroyed themselves by their own bad decisions. Although they had intelligence, they never cultivated God’s values. Smart people without morals or integrity are dangerous people.

The world values intelligence but intelligence comes much more easily than good character. If you want your life to be filled with the good thing God wants for you, don’t neglect your heart. In your heart is where the great battles and decisions of life are won or lost. Your problem may not that you don’t have enough knowledge it may be that your heart is not inclined to do what you already know to do! Guard your heart so you are always ready to do what you know is right. Be sure to spend at least as much time developing your heart as you spend developing your mind.

God bless!

POWER, NOT TALK

"For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power."

Christians often talk and sing about the powerful God we serve. Yet when we come up against challenges to our faith, we start to backpedal furiously: "of course, God can do anything He wants, but not in my life. I'm no spiritual giant. I'm just an average run-of-the-mill person."
We need to REREAD the BIBLE! It's filled with accounts of ordinary men and women whom God empowered to do great things! Joshua was an ex-slave who defeated every army he faced. Esther showed incredible bravery, putting her life on the hostile pagan priest by calling down fire from heaven. Paul was stoned almost to death; then he got up, brushed himself off, and headed right back into town!

Were these all unusually rugged people, gifted with supernatural bravery and endurance? Not at all. They were ordinary men and woman whose strength came from God. God is not intimidated by anyone or anything. His power is more than enough to handle any problem you will ever face. So if this same God who defeated menacing armies and destroyed entire cities now lives within you, there is no reason your life should not also reflect his awesome power. You don't need to be intimidated by those who oppose your Christianity. Don't let anyone or anything frighten you out of obeying God. When God calls you to follow him, he empower you to accomplish his desires.

Walk closely with almighty God, and let His power shine through your life. Don't trust in your strength, but in the infinite power of the one who lives within you. Don't just talk about the power of God; experience it!

POWER

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
(1cor. 1:18)

Don’t be surprised when not everyone is as exalted about the gospel as you are! As you enjoy the thrill of walking with Jesus, you may be surprised when others choose not to experience God in the same exciting way that you do. Paul understood that those who approach Christianity with skepticism will not find any power in it. Such people consider the gospel foolishness. On the other hand, those who believe the good news know firsthand the power of God that changes lives.

Why is it some people never experience God’s activity in their lives? Their lack of faith prevents them from seeing him at work. Ultimately, their rejection of the truth costs them their lives. However, those who approach God with faith see him at work, and they experience his mighty power.

The Bible says some people will refuse to accept the truth of the cross. To nonbelievers, the Christian message is nonsense; therefore it holds no power for them. They won’t understand how anyone could accept it. They may even ridicule you for believing it. The Bible says these people are doomed to perish . don’t ever stop sharing the good news simply because some reject it. There will be those who accept the truth of Christ, and you will see them experience God at work in their lives in the same powerful way he has worked in yours.

Shalom!

SCRUTINIZED

"at this , the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent."
-Daniel 6:4

What would happen if your enemies set out to find every damaging piece of information they could about you? what if they followed you to see where you spent your time? what if they tapped your phone and eavesdropped on your conversations? what if they interviewed your classmates or coworkers, looking for someone with some dirt on you? would they come up with embarrassing information?

that's what Daniel's enemies tried to do. They desperately wanted to dig up some incriminating evidence on him to make him lose his job. Daniel had nothing to fear, the worst thing they could come up with was that he PRAYED a lot!

There is incredible freedom in living a clean life. It eliminates the need to keep secrets or to worry about what might be exposed. it removes the vice grip that guilt can hold on your conscience. perhaps you have already done things that, if revealed, would cause you shame. ALTHOUGH YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST, YOU CAN START FRESH TODAY. ask God to forgive your past sins and help you to begin a life of absolute integrity. each time you face a questionable decision, ask yourself this question:
"would i be ashamed if what I'm about to do were made public?" if you choose to live pure life, you will enjoy the tremendous freedom that comes with it.

God bless us!!!

don't change the world

Don't change the world.... Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled a prosperous country. One day, he went for a trip to some distant areas of his country. When he was back to his palace, he complained that his feet were very painful, because it was the first time that he went for such a long trip, and the road that he went through was very rough and stony. He then ordered his people to cover every road of the entire country with leather. Definitely, this would need thousands of cows’ skin, and would cost a huge amount of money. Then one of his wise servant dared himself to tell the king, “Why do you have to spend that unnecessary amount of money? Why don’t you just cut a little piece of leather to cover your feet?” The king was surprised, but he later agreed to his suggestion, to make a “shoe” for himself. There is actually a valuable lesson of life in this story: “To make this world a happy place to live, you better change yourself - your heart; and not the world.” TO GOD BE THE GLORY(",)

Foot prints

FOOTPRINTS one night i dreamed a dream, i was walking along the beach with my Lord. across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life, for each scene, i noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. one belonging to me and one to my Lord, when the last scene of my life shot before me, i looked back at the footprints in the sand and to my surprise, i noticed that many times along the path of my life, there was only one set of footprints. i realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times in my life. this always bothered me, and i questioned the Lord about my dilemma, "Lord, you told me when i decided to follow you, you would walk and talk with me all the way. but i'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints, i just don't understand why, when i needed you most you leave me" he whispered,"my precious child, i love you and will never leave you never, ever, during your trials and testings, when you saw only one set of footprints it was then that i carried you." -God is always there for us..
